Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, J.C. Romero has been suspended for 50 games for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs in September. Although Romero tested positive in September, he took the case to arbitration, which allowed him to play in the 2008 playoffs.
The Phillies will miss Romero's lefty arm out of the bullpen. In 2008, he was a key part of the Phillies World Series run and was the set up man for Brad Lidge in the 8th inning. There is no word yet on whether the Phillies will pick up another lefty arm in free agency or look to the farm system to help fill the void until he returns.
